Many websites in Washington have to serve several audiences at once: members, policymakers, journalists, donors and the general public. They also tend to face stricter expectations on accessibility than sites elsewhere, because so much of the city's work touches government.
We design clear, accessible sites for associations, advocacy groups, government contractors and professional firms, as well as restaurants and shops in neighborhoods from Navy Yard to Adams Morgan. Our team works remotely from Turkey, and Eastern time gives us a reliable daily overlap for calls in your morning.
Industries we can help in Washington, D.C.
What these businesses need online, and what we would build for them.
- 01
Trade associations and membership groups
Member portals, event registration, resource libraries and clear advocacy pages, with structures that small staff teams can keep current.
- 02
Nonprofits and advocacy organizations
Donation flows, campaign landing pages and action forms that load fast and work for everyone, including people using screen readers.
- 03
Government contractors
Capability statements, contract vehicle and certification pages you supply, and accessible design aligned with Section 508 expectations.
- 04
Law, lobbying and consulting firms
Practice and issue pages, attorney or consultant bios, insights sections and secure contact routes.
- 05
Restaurants, bars and local shops
Menus, reservations and event pages for neighborhoods that fill up with commuters on weekdays and visitors on weekends.
Accessible, credible websites for mission-driven organizations
Accessibility is not an add-on for most D.C. clients, so we build it in from the first wireframe. Sites are designed and tested against WCAG 2.2, which also maps well to Section 508 expectations for organizations working with federal agencies and reduces ADA-related risk.
What we build: - Association and nonprofit sites with member areas and event registration - Resource libraries with search, filters and downloadable reports - Campaign landing pages and action forms - Capability sites for contractors and consultancies - Custom web apps such as portals, dashboards and AI-assisted search with Claude
Everything is built in Next.js for speed and long-term maintainability.

SEO for policy content and neighborhood search
Associations and think tanks often have years of reports that search engines struggle to find. We fix structure, metadata and internal linking so that content gets discovered by journalists, researchers and members.
For local businesses, search is very neighborhood-driven: lunch near Farragut, a dentist in Capitol Hill, a gym in NoMa. We set up your Google Business Profile, keep hours and photos accurate and build pages for the areas you serve, including nearby Arlington or Bethesda where it makes sense.

Google Ads for causes, contracts and customers
Campaigns here look different from most cities.
- Fundraising and awareness campaigns for nonprofits, including set-up for Google Ad Grants where your organization qualifies
- Event registration campaigns for conferences and association meetings
- B2B search campaigns for contractors and consultancies with careful targeting
- Local campaigns for restaurants and services around office districts and tourist areas
Conversion tracking covers donations, registrations, calls and forms.

Working with a remote team from Turkey: time zones and process
Washington is 7 hours behind Turkey during daylight saving time and 8 hours behind in winter. Your morning is our afternoon, which gives us a daily window for calls within your business hours. Progress, questions and approvals are tracked on a shared project board.
You receive a written proposal and contract in English, milestone reviews, accessibility testing, launch and ongoing support. A single senior developer carries the project from kickoff to handover.

How we work
Every project follows the same five steps. At each one you know who you're talking to and what you'll receive.
- 1
Free intro call
We talk through your business, goals and budget, and look at your current setup together if useful.
- 2
Written proposal
Scope, delivery date and price, itemised in writing. No surprise extras later.
- 3
Design and build
We work in short cycles; a preview link lets you follow progress and comment at any time.
- 4
Launch
We set up the domain, hosting, Search Console and analytics, then take the project live.
- 5
Support and growth
We stay reachable after launch: fixes, new features, SEO and ad optimisation.
Web design in Washington, D.C.: FAQ
Do you have an office in Washington, D.C.?
No. Weras Labs is based in Turkey and works with D.C. clients remotely through video calls, a shared project board and email. There is no D.C. office or local staff, and the developer building your site is the person you talk to.
What is the time difference with D.C.?
Turkey is 7 hours ahead of Washington in summer and 8 hours ahead in winter. We hold calls during your morning, which is our afternoon, and answer most messages on the same day.
Can you build a site that meets Section 508 expectations?
We design and test against WCAG 2.2, which covers the criteria Section 508 refers to. We check contrast, keyboard use, screen readers and forms. For formal conformance statements, your compliance team should review our test results.
Do you build member portals for associations?
Yes. We build member login areas, directories, event registration and resource libraries, or integrate with the association management system you already use. Scope is agreed in a written proposal before work starts.
Can you help nonprofits with Google Ad Grants?
Yes. If your organization qualifies, we can set up and manage Ad Grants campaigns within Google's rules, including conversion tracking and the account structure the program requires. Eligibility is decided by Google, not by us.
How do we get started?
Book a free intro call. We learn about your audiences, goals and constraints, then send a written proposal with scope, timeline and responsibilities. Work begins only after you approve it.

Social media for advocacy, members and locals
LinkedIn is central for associations, contractors and policy firms. Advocacy groups and nonprofits often add Instagram, Facebook and short video to reach supporters. Restaurants and shops do well on Instagram. We plan around legislative calendars, conferences and local events, create posts and schedule them.
